Jerry’s Records

PITTSBURGH, PA • 2136 Murray Ave, 2nd Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15217

Pittsburgh’s Squirrel Hill has a record store that bills itself as one of the largest used record stores anywhere, and after a few hours in the bins we’re not inclined to argue.

It started in 1976 as the Record Graveyard, opened by Jerry Weber and Jim Petruzzi, and went through a few names before becoming Jerry’s Records. Weber retired in 2017, handing the store to longtime employee Christian Grauzer, and died in January 2022 at 73. Grauzer is still there, and last August the store celebrated 50 years in business.

They say they have nearly a million used records across all genres. We can’t count them, but we can tell you it takes a long afternoon to cover.  The pricing is fair, and they buy/stock used records others might pass on.

Note it’s on the second floor, so you take a staircase to get in. The store says it buys, sells and trades, and it even publishes a page explaining how it prices records, which we appreciate. The current owner credits vinyl’s staying power to people wanting community and recommendations, and that’s what we like about a place like this.
