WIN WIN
Fenne Lilly
INDIE FOLK • OCTOBER 23, 2026 • NETTWERK MUSIC GROUP
Fenne Lily’s fourth album is her first for Nettwerk, and the first fully written after her move from England to New York.
She was born in Dorset, started playing out in Bristol around 15, and worked in a record shop in Bridport as a teenager, where she sometimes got a music education from the albums PJ Harvey was picking up. We’d call that good training.
We came across her via the algorithm, when Apple Music suggested 2023’s ‘Big Picture’ to us and we fell in love, immediately reminded of Aimee Mann, and that is high praise indeed. And, when Ricky Gervais noted the same influence, Lily called it, “the best thing that's ever happened to me.” There’s bedroom pop, indie folk, chamber folk in all her work, anchored by incisive, precise lyrics like, "Now I dance alone all the time / In the same room where I learned about the cancer / And you just held your head to mine" from ‘Lights Light Up.’ Her songs grab ahold and won’t let go.
‘Win Win’ was written and recorded over 18 months with collaborators from both England and New York, mostly live and partly to tape. Ten songs, led by ‘Uh Huh,’ about the end of one love and the start of another, when residual pain from the time before still has a grip. She’s said she wrote it in the third person, like summing up the life of someone close, and that it leans more country than her usual because she absorbed “the America I live in now.”
It follows ‘Big Picture’ and 2020’s ‘Breach’ on Dead Oceans, both of which we’ve spent a lot of time with.
The vinyl is a limited Tobacco Marble pressing. We’re looking to pick it up ASAP.
