Last week we sang the praises of Good Records. This week it's the other half of the Dallas equation, because when we're in town we always do both. Good is where you go to find the treasure. Josey is where you go to find out how many treasures there are, and the answer is a lot.
Josey is enormous. Twenty-five thousand square feet of vinyl, CDs, cassettes and more, one of the largest record stores in the country, sitting in Farmers Branch just north of the city, right off 635. Budget a lot of time.
The big surprise is what's going on behind the store. The people behind Josey bought A&R Records in 2015. It’s the only remaining vinyl pressing plant in Texas, and they’ve kept it alive. So Josey is a record store, a record label and a pressing operation under one banner, and that’s pretty cool.
They've since added stores in Kansas City, Plano, Sedalia, MO and Tulsa (we’ve been happy here too), so it’s not just us.
