There’s a lot of great record stores in Austin, but you can’t talk about the Austin scene without centering Waterloo. Founded in 1982 at 221 South Lamar Blvd, Austin’s legendary Waterloo Records moved to the corner of 6th and Lamar in 1989 and, late last year, into a new 10,000 square foot home just a few blocks from that spot. In-store performances (and some legendary SXSW parking lot day parties at the old spot), incredible selection, great staff picks, used stock that rotates quickly and rewards frequent crate digging check-ins. Must stop for locals and visitors to Austin.
