FRESHLY PRESSED
THE SINGER IN MY BAND
This is Lorelai
INDIE • 2026 • MATADOR RECORDS
This is Nate Amos' first release for Matador, and his first "road record,” written on tour either with his band Water from Your Eyes, or for his solo project under the This is Lorelai nom de plume. And what a time the last few years have been for Amos: he’s toured the world and seen luminaries like Jeff Tweedy, Hailey Wiliams and indie icon MJ Lenderman cover his tunes.
This record takes the Great American Songbook and filters it through a fun house mirror. The hooks that hit like standards, but the arrangements that don't. In an interview, Amos said, “The ideas incubated while daydreaming in the car without access to any instruments, so instead of being home and writing on the guitar or a computer, they developed slowly and subconsciously, existing as a sort of intangible thing while looking out the van window.”
We love what we’ve heard so far and will be keeping our eyes peeled for the release, pressed on bone white or black vinyl.
