Hurray for the Riff Raff is Alynda Segarra. They left home at seventeen, rode freight trains and busked in New Orleans before finding a home there.
This is their 8th release as Hurray for the Riff Raff, and they went in the studio a month after their father passed away. Themes of grief, displacement, what it means to be family—biological or otherwise—and the places that make us who we are circle around the whole record. Backed by Phil and Brad Cook, with guest appearances by S.G. Goodman and Conor Oberst, we’ve loved it since first listen.
